MolMarker: A Simple Tool for DNA Fingerprinting Studies and Polymorphic Information Content Calculation

چکیده
Molecular markers and mapping are used to analyze an organism’s genes. They allow the selection of target genetic areas based on marker genotype (and not trait phenotype), facilitate study variability diversity, create linkage maps, follow individuals or lines carrying certain may be select parental genotypes, remove drag in back-crossing, choose difficult-to-measure characteristics. Due a lack variety crops, gene pools wild crop relatives for future agricultural production have been examined. The invention RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) allowed creation other traditional approaches such as RAPD (Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) AFLP (Amplified Polymorphism). Accordingly, need describe polymorphic information content (PIC) ideal has raised. Marker reliability depends marker’s relationship genomic area interest. Although informativeness must estimated design, there no readily available tools. Earlier, PICcalc was developed calculate heterozygosity (H) PIC simplify molecular investigations. These two values were corrected dominant co-dominant (binary allelic data) determine polymorphism quality. popularity web, we downloadable version called MolMarker with extra functionality reduce server maintenance.

Starting Dose Calculation for Medicinal Plants in Animal Studies; Recommendation of a Simple and Reliable Method
Background and purpose: Research studies indicate that almost 80% of the present day drugs are derived directly or indirectly from medicinal plants. The estimation of a safe starting dose is a concern when a new substance is to be investigated including medicinal plants, in clinical and laboratory studies. This study was intended to explore a simple and reliable method of calcu...
متن کاملRandom amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) fingerprinting of Mycoplasma gallisepticum isolates from chickens
Ten field isolates of Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) from different geographical areas of Iran were analyzed by random amplification of polymorphic DNA (RAPD). RAPD analysis produced reproducible banding patterns on the basis of which various distinct amplification patterns could be detected. MG isolates compared with reference strains (S6 and Mg SS) and vaccine strain (ts-11) and demonstrated...
متن کاملThe random amplification of polymorphic DNA for fingerprinting plants.
School of Biological Sciences, University of Birmingham, Birmingham B15 2TT, United Kingdom Molecular markers based upon DNA sequence variation have proved extremely effective tools for distinguishing between closely related genotypes. With the advent of PCR technology, methods have been developed that use amplified DNA sequences as molecular markers. These methods require very little template ...
متن کاملSerogrouping and Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA Fingerprinting of Campylobacter Jejuni
Results: Twenty one C. jejuni strains belonged to the following Penner’s serogroups: 8 strains were group A, 13 strains were group O. The remaining 5 strains were non-typable. RAPD-PCR analysis of 26 strains of Campylobacter jejuni yielded multiple amplification products in all of them. None of the strains processed by this method was non-typable. According to the number and sizes of amplificat...
متن کاملLarge-scale DNA fingerprinting of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains as a tool for epidemiological studies of tuberculosis.
We conducted a large-scale DNA fingerprinting analysis of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains in a country in which tuberculosis is endemic (Tunisia) in order to evaluate the importance of microepidemics in the maintenance of the disease within the population. The genetic polymorphisms of 201 strains of M. tuberculosis isolated from 196 unrelated patients living in four districts of northern Tun...
